Cats of the World
Hannah Shaw and Andrew Marttila, a wife and husband team dedicated to cat rescue and feline photography, traveled to thirty countries to document global cat culture. Their project explores how cats and humans interact across diverse locations, from England's historic sites to Chile's markets and Turkey's bazaars.
The book features hundreds of photographs alongside stories from each destination, examining feline welfare practices worldwide. Shaw and Marttila interviewed local animal rescuers, advocates, and cat lovers to understand regional approaches to cat care and the cultural significance of felines in different societies.
The authors chronicle their visits to approximately 100 cities, meeting with dedicated individuals working to protect cats in their communities. Through their journey, they illustrate how "compassion is truly a universal language," revealing the shared human connection to cats across cultural boundaries and geographic regions.
